Training Re-cap

So I have this fun idea of doing an half ironman this year. It is something I have been thinking about for awhile now. In fact last week I had a friend talk me into Boise half Ironman (June 13th). I have already registered for a half marathon the same day. I thought about it for a minute and figured that maybe I could be ready for it. I took this week and started to train for it. Well, I didn’t swim…got 15 miles on my bike outside, but I did get my running in…

It was challenging to say the least and I won’t throw all my excuses at you but I really want to be ready for the half Ironman distance when I tackle it. I am pretty good at winging things on little training.. I know I may finish (if I don’t drown first), but I want to finish strong. So I have come to the conclusion to post pone my half Ironman date and find another later in the year. I am looking at the Tempe, AZ 70.3 right now. October 18, 2015.



That way I know I will be able to get my open water swimming in before, and have time to get up to gear up on the bike. It is farther away, but I am more comfortable with it. I will be doing other smaller tris during the summer but this will be my end goal!

I will start posting my training on Sundays, mostly to keep me accountable but hopefully you will find some interest/motivation in it. I know there will be days/weeks that will harder to train than others and finding the balance between my family, job and training is a tricky one but I love it all.

So here is my week!

Monday: GPP, Body Attack

Tuesday: Boot Camp, Speed run on TM, 45 minutes Spin Bike

Wednesday: GPP, 5 mile tempo run TM.


Thursday: Boot Camp, GPP

Friday: GPP, 9 mile run TM.

Saturday: Body Pump, 15 mile Bike OUTSIDE! 1 mile run afterward.


This week was a crazy one. I taught a few extra classes and didn’t have time to do my whole speed workout, It SNOWED a ton on Tuesday so no biking/running outside happened until Saturday which is crazy to even think we went from snow to the 60’s in the matter a few days. Brent and I were supposed to have a swim date on Saturday but I vetoed it and we ended up going to see McFarland instead. P.s Go see it!

This week my goals are:

  • To spend some more time on the bike outside, along with running. The weather is supposed to be in the low 60’s so I have no excuse to NOT get outside.
  • Key in my diet and make sure I’m drinking enough water. –>Nursing is tough stuff. I also have a few more baby pds to drop, so getting my diet in check, and meals prepped and ready will help.
  • Get all my run workouts in.
  • Get. in. the. pool.
  • Catch up on Laundry. Duh.
