Trail run & Decorating

This weekend was packed.

We had a fun Friday afternoon hanging out at the pool!

IMG_4962[1]

Which quickly lead to nap time..

T & B are getting a little better in the water but still a little hesitate. It was a little chaotic at the pool, all the kids running around are little nutty. I was actually a little disappointed at the rec center.. There were way to many kids running wild and a lot of older kids just push and shove toddlers into the water, to get them out of their way and butt in line to go down the slide. It was crazy.. either that or I’m just an over protective mom.

After naps and coaching a night class we headed up to another family reunion. It was up at Jolleys Ranch, which is about an hour drive from our house. The kids played and the adults chatted. Nothing exciting, but fun to talk with my SIL’s.

IMG_4963[1]

Saturday I taught my normal Body Pump class and then headed out with the girls for another trail run. We did the same trail we did on my Birthday, just backwards.

My sister Heather came this time! It was fun having her there.

IMG_4984[1]

I love having a group of girls to run with! They are all amazing and great friends. I teach pump till 10 am on Saturdays and they offered to wait till I could go with them despite the fact we would be running in 100 degrees.. I love them. We did wear our camel backs so we had water and even a little snack.

IMG_4969[1]

We saw a few snakes… It was over 100 degrees while we were doing this trail and the snakes like to bake out on the trail! Can you spy the little slither?

We started at the bottom of the North Canyon trail and made our way to elephant rock!

Then down the Mueller Park trail. It is about 10 mile with 2900 ft elevation gain.

It has been really dry here the last few weeks.. I look like this after every trail run. Its dirty business.

I actually went into a furniture store like this.. haha! Brent and I have been saving money to do a little redecorating and finally got enough to go and pick some things out! I ordered a few tables and spent a lot of time trying to find rugs and such.

Today started off with a little fun run. My SIL Janey came with me! She just got new running shoes and wanted to break them in. We did a quick 5k before heading to church. It felt awesome to get up early and move a little.

I wore my Wave Sayonaras and she wore Brookes Ghost.

I am in love with these shoes! I could go for a pair of orange ones.. Winking smile

It was hot outside already when we went and I came in dripping! Does anyone start sweating even more after you stop?? I seriously looked like I just got out of the shower!

A nice cold shake sounded perfect!

I am sure that the only way to drink a protein shake is with a chill pipe!

A chill pipe is a metal straw. They are my FAVORITE! You can pick them up at your local 7-11 gas station. Winking smile

Bee woke up shortly after I walked in the door.

Yes, she has marker all over her.. little nugget had one in her crib?? I have no clue how..she takes her purse to bed so I’m guessing it was in there. You think the art work on her legs is good? You should see her crib. Its washable so it came off easy.

IMG_4999[1]

After church today, Brent and I got to work organizing the play room . AKA. the toy pit.

I should of taken a before pic.. It was insane. I was surprised I never actually lost a kid down there! Winking smile

I ended up with 4 bags of toys to donate. Feels good to declutter a bit!

Brent also went and picked up our new rug!!

IMG_5019[1]

I love it and I can’t wait till I get my new tables! I don’t think of myself as a decorator. I have no interior design skill and can’t put things together for my life.. but I think it looks pretty good!

IMG_4997[1]

I also got some new drapes. I love how they brighten up the room! I had dark brown ones before..

I also cleaned out the fridge, swept, mopped, and did laundry!

Productive Sunday! Now, it’s time for a little R & R!

Night Y’all.

What is something fun you did this weekend?

#WaveSayonara

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Mizuno. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I recently received the new wave sayonara shoes from Mizuno and as soon as I got them I put them on and danced around my house! New shoes are like a breath of fresh air! I have always been a Mizuno fan. I wore my first pair in my very first marathon and was SOLD on the Mizuno Waveriders!

A benefit of being included with Fitfluential is that I get the opportunity to review products from amazing companies. Mizuno sent me their newest running shoe- the Wave Sayonara to give them a go and review for all the HMR readers.

IMG_4915[1]

When I first put them on I was immediately impressed. The shoe is light weight (only 7.1 ounces!) and comfortable. I feel like they give me plenty of support like the Waveriders do but just lighter! They are now Mizunos lightest running shoe. Light enough that they work great for speed work and cross training, along with enough support for long distance runs!

I have done a long run in them, cross training and a track workout. All of which I felt great through!

I had great ankle and arch support, they have good cushioning and resiliency and plenty of room in the front of the shoe. It is a great neutral shoe. There is a parallel weight plate for shock absorption in the heel. They extended the heel wedge on the medial side for extra support.

IMG_4951[1]

Tonight I headed to the track with some friends and tackled this killer track workout!

atthetrack

It was a great way to end the day!

I always forget how much fun track workouts are. It’s a great change of pace from the pavement.

The Mizuno Wave Sayonara will be available on July 5th and retails for $119.99.  If you’re looking for a lightweight running shoe, that is great for cross training with enough support for long runs go check out these shoes when they come out next week!  Also check out Mizunos Mezamashii Project!

What is your favorite running shoe?

Its just Wednesday

I swear by 3 o’clock this afternoon it was already Thursday. Ha!

We had a busy day today, which had us on the go from the moment we woke up, but it was a great day and those are always the best!

I started this morning coaching this workout, and then tackled it myself before it got too hot outside!

Source

I love tabata workouts and I especially loved this one because of the runs! My core was sore from the weighted sit ups yesterday and my legs are from the box jumps! Overall, it was exactly what the title says.. Rough.

After the gym, I took the kids to the grocery store with me. When I got home and was putting things away, I discovered a few things that I didn’t quite intend on purchasing..

T & B were pretty sly… those kid carts may need to accidently disappear..

We came home, unloaded groceries and headed straight to the splash pad for lunch and for some fun!

I grabbed these little odwalla juice boxes for the twinners and they loved them!!

IMG_4872[1]

I’m a fan of these sweet little boxes. No added sugars, 100% juice and they have a little thicker “smoothie” texture. They were on sale at smiths so I grabbed 4 for $5 but that is still a little steep.. I’ll make my own.. later.

We also snacked on one of my favorite summer treats.

After the splash pad the twins were tuckered out and went right down for their naps!

My MIL law watched the kids while I went out for another trail run!

From GPP main site:

“GPP is kicking off its summer endurance series again.  This is where we all meet at HQ at an agreed upon time/place and storm a trail run together.  All trail runs are "out & back," so anyone, at any fitness level, can join in and go at their own pace. “

IMG_4903[1]

Each week we will tackle a different trail either on foot or bike! So if your local, keep an eye out on the GPP mainsite (I will also post it here.) All the details for each week!

This is going to be fun!

Get out and use your fitness.

You can expect to sweat, laugh and check out amazing views like this.

IMG_4876[1]

You may also experience a nice dirt “tan”!

IMG_4886[1]

After the run today we had dinner at my MIL’s. Her birthday is the same week as mine so we celebrated our birthdays over dinner!

I snacked on some watermelon and corn while waiting for the chicken to be done. I’m convinced watermelon is the best tasting thing after a dusty trail run.

Then loaded my plate with salad and a big piece of chicken!

Tomorrow I’m planning on getting an early run in!

Time for bed!

Chicken, Fish or pork?

Favorite Salad Dressing?

Do you have a favorite trail run?

Have you ever “accidently” bought something?

HOPPERS

Last night we took the kids to their very first movie!

Yes, Tanner took his precious golf club into the theater.. which I actually just realized we left there!

I have been a little hesitate to take Tanner and Baylee to a movie just because they have the attention span of a two year olds.

We took them to Monster University and they absolutely loved it!! We of course got popcorn and drinks that kept they occupied and they surprised me and did really well! Bee got a little restless towards the end.. I won’t lie. I did too. But we made it through our first movie as a family!

This morning I jumped out of bed and scarfed down some overnights OIAJ with a handful of blueberries before heading to the workout.

IMG_4845[1]

In the Jar:

1/2 c. Oats

!/2 C. unsweetened Almond milk (vanilla)

2 tbs chia seeds

1 tsp. PB2

Left over Almond Butter

A couple drops of stevia

Easy peasy.

Mix all of that together in a jar of PB or AB and throw it in the fridge then grab and go in the morning!

An easy and quick breakfast is a necessity in this house!

Todays workout at GPP was FUN!

Box jumps-As high as possible, was my favorite part of the workout today.

They pushed you to get over a little fear.

So many people conquered the fear of a box jump today including this girl!

It never ceases to amaze me what the GPP community seems to accomplish day in and day out.

I’m not just saying that because I work there, I appreciated it long before I became an employee. They really have an amazing program, that not only improves your fitness in all aspects but your life as well.

Who isn’t a little intimidated by this?

IMG_4852[1]

I watched a few people conquer this jump!

We measured it at about 42 inches! Somebody even got on top of 9 plates… Amazing.

One plate at time..

Proof that we (everyone) really can do HARD things.

IMG_4856[1]

Even if we get a little beat up in the process.. Winking smile

After class I got to hang out and coach these awesome kids.

I stayed after with two of them for a few minutes and helped them work on their kips. They both got their FIRST kipping pull-ups!!

IMG_4848[1]

What a tough group.

I taught pump tonight and then we had a family party at Get Air in Utah. (A giant trampoline park in Utah)

IMG_4862[1]IMG_4863[1]

I wouldn’t really recommend it for toddlers. There were a lot of older kids jumping around and it gets a little crazy.

They however had this hurricane simulation machine…

IMG_4865[1]

Brent said they loved it!

Then he turned it on..

IMG_4864[1]

oops.. didn’t love it as much as he thought he would..

Don’t worry, he was okay, he got out quick and we don’t normally through our kids in a hurricane…

Not a bad place for a “time out” though… Winking smile

What is a fear you have overcome lately? (Doesn’t have to be fitness related.)

What was your workout today?

Celebrating 27 years

My Birthday was amazing thanks to my amazing friends and family.

After I taught pump I met up with a few of friends for my favorite trail run!

Tara, Nikki, Kym and Katie! Once we got to elephant rock we decided to take another trail and go a little farther to Rudys Flat. The Mueller Park trail actually connects to the North Canyon trail. I have never been to Rudys Flat before and thought WHY NOT?!

The views were AMAZING!!

It was about 7 miles to rudy’s from the bottom of Mueller Park. We were prepared as always without food or water. HA! Luckily the trail is pretty shaded and wasn’t miserable. If I were to do it again I would for sure bring water and a snack.

IMG_4703[1]

Total mileage was about 10 miles with about 2800 ft of elevation gain!

I’m lucky to have such great friends to support and push me through crazy stuff like this.

IMG_4715[1]

When we got to the top, a plank tower was mandatory.

IMG_4714[1]

Yes, I had birthday balloons tied to my back.

After the trail run I got home and showered and packed and we were off to Bear Lake! My father in law recently bought a cabin there and invited us down for the weekend! We got there around 6:30 and the water was pretty choppy and it was about 65 degrees so we passed on boating ate some BBQ and headed out to the beach for a little bit.

The water was pretty chilly. But when you got to go, you got to go….

Tanner and Baylee had fun making “train tracks” in the sand.

It was a great night on the beach and great end to my birthday!

The next morning I started it off right!

A RUN!

I have the Bear Lake Half Marathon coming up here in a few weeks! Figured I better get some miles on the pavement!

I did about 6.5 in 55 minutes! my legs were pretty tired from the run the day before, so I took it nice and easy and just ran.

I came home and made a quick protein shake with Vega Sport that I got at blend!

IMG_4757[1]

We packed up and hit the road!

I read and shared some starburst. Candy is required during road trips. I’m sure of it.

I also had a Quest bar.

We made it home just in time to get cleaned up and out the door to meet my family! Brent even made me a cake!

He is amazing!

We were outside and had a little issue lighting the candles..

IMG_4777[1]

Oh well.. Just pretend..

DSC_0720

Then it was time to cut into the CAKE!

IMG_4783[1]

YUM! WATERMELON CAKE! Brent made a watermelon into cake and the frosting was actually Chobani Vanilla Greek Yogurt!

We had a great time sitting around the fire roasting mallows, starburst and eating s’mores!

My sister Jessica has perfected the roast.

IMG_4790[1]

I had a wonderful birthday!
