Grocery Haul

Yesterday, I skipped out on posting because honestly, just sitting or actually laying in my bed watching Nashville sounded a little better. Anyone else watch that? You should.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and here are a few things I always have in my house at all times, and some new things that I wanted to try. Besides, I was at Costco. You never walk out of there with just your “list.”

IMG_0279[1]IMG_0281[1]

This broccoli come in 4 1lb steamable microwavable bags! I love it. Anything that cuts dishes out, I’m a fan.

Wild Cut Mahi Mahi, has been my fish of choice lately.

IMG_0280[1]

The Natures Three Berries goes into about every recovery shake that I make. There are raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. It is cheaper to buy them frozen then fresh this time of year.

My Costco just recently started selling the Egg white Cartons. I also buy the 2 dozen box of eggs too. In the winter I eat a LOT of eggs. Easy and quick protein. My family and I go through this whole box in a week!

IMG_0282[1]

I have been adding a little dairy back into my diet to see if I can become tolerant to it again. I started by putting just a spoonful in my oats and had issues at first but I think its getting better! This greek yogurt is just plain, low in sugar and taste like sour cream so I have to add stevia to it or fruit.

IMG_0284[1]

A few things that caught my eye and were actually more of an impulse purchases.

1. Gluten Free flax & ancient grain all purpose flour. So far it has been a hit. I have used it, to make cookies, muffins and pancakes! (One day I’ll measure out everything and share it with you.)

2. So Delicious unsweetened coconut milk! I usually drink almond milk but this saves a little so why not give it a try? I’ll let you know what I think.

3.Kodiak Cakes Power cakes! I have been buying Kodiak cake mix for a quick breakfast for my kids. But the “Power” is new. They have added protein in them! The mix has 14 g of whey isolate in it per serving. Anything I can do to get my kids a little more protein in their diet, it’s a win.

4. Marys Crackers! These are my favorite GF crackers. They are made with brown rice, quinoa and seeds. LOVE.

Today I coached this morning and did this workout.

Those halos and those T2T Presses pretty much shot my shoulders to heck.

This workout is cool, because it targets your core in a unfamiliar way. Try it!

After the workout, I came home and made some veggies- peppers, eggs, cucumbers, sweet potatoes and eggs with some grapefruit.

IMG_0275[1]

Anyone else eat their grapefruit like a orange?

I taught a boot camp class tonight also.. Which was ROUGH. I split the class into two different groups, for two different 12 minute AMRAPS (As Many Rounds As Possible). They of course killed the workout! Whenever I teach a boot camp class I don’t do the workout with them. I just help with form, encourage and ramble about random life things. Like Bachelor. Okay, not really.

Maybe.

I came home and had a big salad for dinner. I had spinach, broccoli, peppers, cucumbers, 1 whole egg and about 4 oz .of chicken.  Drizzled with Udo’s oil.

Anything new you have tried lately that you LOVE?

What is your favorite type of workout?

Grain Free Protein Waffles

It seems like it’s getting a little warmer around here..

Not.

But we decided to go for a hike and play at the park anyway!

IMG_0120[1]

IMG_0126[1]

Best idea of the day was to take two three year olds on a hike, by myself was pure genius.

Said no twin mom ever.

They had fun the first ten feet then I carried them for about a mile before I decided to bag it and head to the park. My arms were about to fall off. I need to do more twin bicep curls apparently.

IMG_0117[1]

On Sunday I made some pretty epic protein waffles.I made two different batches and the first turned out better in the second. The protein powder you use does make a difference! I used a whey isolate the first time and it was great! Then had the idea to make them again with a cinnamon bun flavor whey and they just didn’t cook right. Still good, just lighter and not as fluffy.

Ingredients:

  • 8 eggs ( I used 4 whole eggs & 4 egg whites)
  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ½ cup coconut flour
  • 3 scoops of vanilla protein powder
  • 1 T cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Vanilla unsweetened almond milk- use until desired consistency is reached, about 1/2 cup.)

Directions:

  1. Crack the eggs into a medium sized bowl and beat with whisk or immersion blender
  2. Add the coconut oil, cinnamon, vanilla and salt and mix well
  3. Add the coconut flour and mix well—I pour it all into my blend tech.
  4. Batter should be thick-ish… If it is too thin, add a little more coconut flour.
  5. Spoon into heated and greased waffle iron and cook until light brown.
  6. Serve!!

Pretty fan freaking tastic.

Tanners favorite topping is obviously Peanut butter

Today I taught a boot camp class and a body pump. I did the GPP workout at Golds and PR’d my front squat by 40lbs. @#165 -- Yay! Spent a little time on the spin bike with a couple friends!

I really want to go to this spin class.

Took a Costco run, bee’s dance and attempted to tackle the mountain of laundry.

Bee is learning a dance to “let it go” from Frozen. It is pretty darn cute

IMG_0158[1]

Bee has been my little helper as of late. She loves to bake and asks me everyday if she can help me cook. Who am I to say no to this face?

Dinner…

Crap in a bowl.

Or oatmeal. Whateve.

IMG_0161[1]

What do you put on top of your waffles/pancakes?

Almond butter, maple syrup and strawberries!

What was your workout today?

One movement you hate to do but do them anyway.

Pistol squats.

InBody 230

Hey Hey!

Hope you guys had a great weekend! We had a really laid back weekend. Not much on the agenda, which is exactly how I like my weekends.

On Friday, I had the opportunity to get a body  composition analysis done. Max Muscle in Bountiful recently got an Inbody 230.

inbody

source

It was really cool, and I learned a lot about my body.

The machine gives you a break down of the following.

  • Weight
    Lean Body Mass
    Body Fat Mass
    Total Body Water
    Dry Lean Mass
    Body Mass Index(BMI)
    Percent Body Fat
    Basal Metabolic Rate(BMR)
Segmental Lean Mass(Right Arm, Left Arm, Trunk, Right leg, Left Leg)
    Impedance of Each Segments

It took just a few minutes to do. I was instructed to not eat 2 hours prior, drink or workout. I did however come straight from a workout.. It was my only time that day so I went anyway. It may of thrown my numbers off a little bit.

My sister in law Janey, and friend Steph and her son were also with me. We each took our turn on the machine.

photo 1

Janey went first. They have you take your shoes off and simply stand on the machine and hold onto two handles. You enter your age and height and it does the rest! It took about a minute for it to analyze your body.

Right after your done they give you a print out of your results, which is really cool.

It is interesting to me to see how much my body has changed in the last 6 months. I realized how much water retention I have right now, thanks mostly to clomid.. (That is a whole different post, I’m willing to talk about, if anyone is interested..) Also my lean body mass was higher then I thought, which is a good thing! Gotta love some muscle!

It places you in what body type you are. A, B, C or D.

I was a D!

A D type body is someone with a high lean muscle mass. I have a body type that gains muscle easily. So I wasn’t too surprised about my results!

photo 3

I found this link that will help you better understand your results---> Click!

If your local you can get your own results done at Max Muscle in Bountiful or Layton! Let them know you heard about it through my blog and you will get it done for $15.00! You can just show up or call ahead. The machine is at certain locations on certain days so you might want to call ahead just in case.

The owners of the gym are very knowledgeable and can give you tips, tricks and recommendations according to your goals.

I want to get this done monthly!

Have you ever had a Body Composition Analysis?

*I did not receive comensation for this post, I honestly went and had it done for myself and recommend it to anyone.

Winner Winner Chicken…

Yesterday, I started the day coaching at GPP. When I got home I attempted to make one amazing

omelet. It obviously turned out pretty amazing…

Omelets made by me, usually ends up in a “egg scramble.” I have been LOVING sweet potatoes lately, I usually bake 7 on Sunday so I have them on hand throughout the week. The kids love them too, so they usually don’t last long.

I did 800m sprints x10 yesterday. It has been awhile since I have done a Yasso 800 workout.. about killed me.

I kept a 7:20 pace for the first five 800m then sped it up to 6:40 and the final one was @6:30 mph which I barely made it 800m! I had read the latest runners mag during recoveries. I find if I have a magazine, it can help break up my ADD a little on the dreadmill.

IMG_0065[1]

Todays GPP workout was all ABS. I love core work, but I struggled through this workout a bit today, My body is wrecked this week and my hip flexors were a little tight from yesterday, and I modified the V-twist a little bit, but  I do love these ball planks!

IMG_0083[1]

I spent about 20 minutes on the spin bike and did 100 walking lunges.

After my workout I went and had my hair done! I’ll post a pic later.. I sent a snap chat but didn’t snap a pic. oops.

The kids and I are getting a little stir crazy. This winter has been LONG and cold and the air quality in Utah right now is pretty bad. Like horrible.. I am running out of activities for these two crazy cats. Tonight I took them to McDonalds play land to get some energy out. My friend Kristine came with me and we just chatted over a few diet cokes while the kids played. It worked like a charm. They both fell asleep as soon as we got home!

To bad they 1. Ignore me when I tell them to smile for a picture and 2. Don’t hold still long enough to actually get a picture.

Love them.

Now the moment we have all been waiting for!

Winner was chosen by Random.com.

The winner of the Core Power Fit Kit is…………..

Sky High Workout

You must all love your core power! If you haven’t entered the giveaway, the winner will be posted tomorrow night so jump to it!

This morning I was going to get my GPP workout done early, but completely slept through my alarm.. I think I set it for PM on accident.. oops. Yesterday, I did a quick GPP workout, taught a boot camp class and Body Attack class! I haven’t taught body attack in a few months because I have been trying to get my plantar fascitiss healed. Which I think it is now, because I have had no pain. Besides the fact that my legs are trashed… Note to self: Don’t ever take that long off attack again! My calves are crazy sore too.. which is probably from the billion box jumps yesterday in the GPP workout.

It was nice to just hang out with the kids this morning, watch cartoons and eat my oatmeal out of a bowl.

IMG_0049[1]

Strawberry Yogurt Oats! This has been my go-to for awhile! I am lactose intolerant and have been adding just a little dairy in my diet everyday and my gut has actually been okay!

My schedule has been a little busy lately, I added a few more classes at my Golds Gym each week, and kids classes started at GPP again. I love what I do and grateful for the oppurtunity I have to teach and coach and to just be part of others fitness journeys. People inspire me everyday. Really all you need to do is walk into a gym and you will find inspiration in the people there.

I taught a boot camp class this morning and then took Baylee to her dance class, went to GPP and got part of the workout done, lots of laundry cleaned, spent 2 hours making my best “Olaf” with play doh with the kiddos.

Here is the workout I threw at my boot campers this morning. It was inspired by the GPP workout I did yesterday.

skyhigh

To do this workout, the numbers across are your reps, so you will start the workout by doing 20 power cleans then 20 box jumps. Then 19 power cleans and 19 box jumps and so on. I called this workout “sky high” because this will keep your heart rate “sky high”! Heart training at its finest!

Give it a go and let me know what you think!

After they ran one mile to cool down.

I taught a body pump class then ran 3 brutal miles on the treadmill.

I am craving a run outside.. the air lately has been pretty crappy here lately.. it is probably less healthy to run outside right now! EW.

Came home and had a recovery shake made with a little Dymnatize ISO-100 and one scoop of Xocai Chocolate protein, spinach, berries, water and ice.

Came home and had a recovery shake made with a little Dymnatize ISO-100 and one scoop of Xocai Chocolate protein.

Baylee loves to help clean…the toilets. Lucky me.

My water intake has been struggling lately! Time to ramp it back up!

Love me some H2O.

And for a little randomness in the day…..

If you park like this at the gym. In January. You’re an idiot.

How much water do you drink each day?

Who else ran today? How far?

Core Power Fit Kit GIVEAWAY

Hope you guys had a great weekend! I have a lot to catch up on, but what is a better way to celebrate a Monday then with a GIVEAWAY!

Recently, I was offered the opportunity to become an ambassador for Core Power. I am so excited about it because I have been a fan of core power ever since Janetha introduced me to them about a year ago! They are my go to protein drink when we are traveling or if I have to run to the grocery store after a workout, Ill snag one while I am shopping for a quick recovery.

What makes Core Power so great? Let’s start with the simple fact that  milk is one of the best sources of protein, helping to build lean muscle and recharge the body when consumed directly after physical /exerting activity. Core Power is the real-milk based sports recovery drink that is actually LACTOSE FREE and contains natural whey and casein proteins found in milk - never removed from their original liquid state. It is a great source of calcium and aids in recovery and building lean muscle. I love that the brand features simple ingredients, it has a short ingredient list and everything on it is recognizable! There are NO preservatives, It is a bonus that they taste just as great, no chalky aftertaste like other brands.  You can also check out the website for recipes!

They have 5 flavors. My personal favorite is the vanilla or the chocolate light. All are great though!

They each have 20-26 grams of protein. Here are the nutritional stats for the Chocolate light.

Core Power was recently named “Official Protein Drink of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.”!! How great is that!

corepower4

While we are all working hard on our new year goals, Core Power wants to give a lucky HMR reader with a winter fit-kit!

corepower2

It will include:

  • An Ogio Core Power gym bag!
  • Yoga mat
  • Towel
  • Resistance Ball
  • CamelBack water bottle
  • And of course some Core Power drinks!

To enter the giveaway:

1. Comment here with what flavor you like or think you would like the most.

2. Share this post on FB or IG and tag at least 3 friends.

Winner will be posted Thursday JANUARY 23, 2013!!

Coconut Fruit Dip

It is still as cold as sin here, but hey, I’m feeling better so there is an upside.

There is also fruit dip. Which makes me happy, because it reminds me of summer!

IMG_9977[1]

This is a simple recipe and comes together in less than a minute!

Coconut Fruit Dip

Ingredients:

1 cup Plain Chobani Yogurt

IMG_9996[1]

1/3 C. Bobs Red Mill shredded coconut (unsweetened)

A few drops of Coconut Stevia.

Directions:

Mix well, and serve!

IMG_9978[1]

My kids LOVE to “dip.” They will always eat more food when they get to “play” with it. It is packed with probiotic, healthy fat, and protein. All of which are tough to get kids to eat. Well, my kids anyway. They would live off cheese and apples.

I finally felt good enough to workout today. The GPP wasn’t a breather, today and figured I’d be okay to give it a go.

baller

source

The workout requires us to sit on the ball with our legs off and try to balance while doing OH press in one hand, and to kneel on the ball without holding on to anything (you could if you needed) and do bicep curls with one hand.

It has been a while since we have done this workout so my balance was a little more touch and go then what it used to be but by the end of the workout I alllllmooost made it through all 20 reps on each side before I lost balance. One to work on.

I also went to a body combat class after (took it easy), it felt good to just move again, my body feels a little tight from being curled up so long.

The kids I could tell felt the same way… it was time to get out of the house. The thing I hate about winter the most is that it’s a little harder to just be outside during the day.. thank goodness for places with large blow up animals and slides, probably caked with more germs then I would like, but hey it could be worse.

IMG_9984[1]

IMG_9993[1]IMG_9989[1]

Besides, they love it and don’t hold still for longer then a millisecond.

We got home a little later then intended so dinner was kind of a toss up. I made some ground turkey and threw it on some spinach, green beans with some acorn squash

IMG_9995[1]

Hope you guys have some fun plans this weekend!!

And because I miss summer so much..

Does anyone have a recipe that reminds them about summer??
