Workout Wednesday: Tabata time

Oh Wednesday. That feels like maybe it should be Friday.

Anyone else?

Maybe I just need a vacation from my trip this weekend? It has been a busy week already and I’m constantly feeling like I’m behind with everything. But guess what?!

That is just life. ADAPT and roll with it! Right?!

Well, it is Wednesday which means you get a workout!

I love tabatas! They are quick and effective and always leave me a sweaty mess in a short amount of time that goes by even faster than you think.

Here ya go, get after it!

Here a few demo videos of a couple movements.

Heel Tap Squats

Skaters—>fast forward that video. Dude talks foreeever.

Press Jacks

I have to tell you guys about Siggis! I literally buy it out of stock every time I see it! It is seriously amazing. Vanilla is my favorite!

Healthy Road Trip Snacks

I got yesterday afternoon from a quick trip to St. George with my family. We went for a funeral which wasn’t my favorite kind of trip. But it was a celebration of my great uncle who was an amazing man and will be missed dearly.

IMG_1076[1]

My Uncle Kay was just one of those people who had a contagious smile and just made you want to be a better person. He was 88, he lived a good life and I’m sure he is smiling down at us all.

Healthy Road Trip Treats

Treats in the car are always something I look forward too on road trips but since I’m working on losing a bit of baby weight I wanted to have some healthy options. So I made a list of a few different ideas. Here is a list of a few smart choices for your next trip!

  • Turkey Jerky
  • Apples,Clementines, or grapes
  • Raw Nuts
  • Quest bars
  • Justins Almond butter packet
  • Fruit leather/dried fruit (avoid the ones with added sugar.)
  • Dub Nutrition Protein 2.0
  • Mamma Chia Packets

Do you have anything to add?

What is your favorite “must have” snack for a road trip? Healthy or not?

The Lately’s

Happy Thursday!

I threw up a late night workout last night, it’s a quick at home sweat fest, so make sure you check it out and give it a go!

It has been forever since I have just posted about my daily day to day stuff and I miss these chats. I figured today is a good time to catch you all up on my life. So here we go!

Lately, the weather here has been pretty amazing. In fact I can’t even remember having such a mild winter in all my life. I like to think it is the running gods controlling the weather because they knew I was pregnant all summer and didn’t get to hit up my favorite trails/pavement. IMG_0978[1]

Lately, while the twins are in preschool (3 days a week) I try and get outside for a quick run. It is a little tricky with Roe’s nap time but yesterday he was a pretty good sport.

IMG_0977[1]

Can you see the sweet smile looking up at you?

Lately, Bee picked up a virus (sore throat, fever) this week so we ended up at the doctor but she is now on the upswing and doing good. Roen also got his 4 month immunizations and is growing like a weed. I always hate the night of, and day after immunizations because they make him so uncomfortable and sad. AKA. No sleep or.. late night parties?

 IMG_0934[1]

After the Doctor visit we went to the hospital cafeteria for lunch and I have to say that I love hospital food.

IMG_0935[1]

Grilled salmon, sweet potato and veggies for the win! It is cheap too! I paid $7 dollars for all of that!

Lately, I picked up a few extra classes at GPP the last two weeks because we had an awesome coach leave. So I have covered them. They start at 5 am on Thursday and Friday and I do love those classes but they are hard for me because of having to feed Roen, I set my alarm for 3:50am and pump for 20-30 minutes so he will have some food when he wakes up, get ready and get to the gym with enough time to get it all up and ready for the day. I love morning workouts but decided this time will have to wait and Ill have to stick with my 6:30 am classes till I’m done nursing. I’d do great till about 4 o’clock in the afternoon. So today was my last morning doing them.

I’m still teaching Body Pump and Body Attack and Body Conditioning throughout the week at night at the other gym I work at, nothing new there. Well, besides new treadmills that I was happy to see last week.

This morning after coaching and doing the GPP workout for the day, which was a rad core workout that had you do movements while standing on one leg while holding one dumbbell in the other. We did single leg deadlifts, bent over rows, bicep curls and OH presses. I know it doesn’t seem like a core workout, but that is the rad thing about it. It is cross-sectional movements while balancing on one leg which requires you to use all the small auxiliary muscles throughout your core to stabilize you throughout the movements. Give it a try!

Afterwards, I came home and made some breakfast.

Lately, this is has been my go-to meal for breakfast. I seriously love it because it really doesn’t take much time at all and it fills me right up for the rest of the morning.

Ezekiel Muffin- They are better then the sliced bread in my opinion. I toast it and put coconut oil on one ad almond butter on the other with sliced banana, Eat the rest of the banana with almond butter while my eggs are cooking.

I have mastered the runny yolk and love to smash it on top of the english muffin.

IMG_0994[1]

I am a huge fan of a runny yolk!

Lately, it has been busy keeping these two entertained during Roens nap time. I’m glad we have good weather so we can go outside and play on the tramp and ride their bikes around the driveway. I take my video monitor outside so I can still keep my eye on Roe.

I have a conditioning class I’m teaching tonight so I’m going to plan that workout and have a few errands to run. Ill pop back in tonight if I have time.

Have a great day!

Snowed In? At Home Workout

Hey guys!

I hope you are ready for nice and sweaty workout.

I have a few friends that live in Boston and have been a little stir crazy lately with all of the insane amount of snow they have received! So if any of you are in the same boat, here is a workout for you to shake out some snow stress.

It is crazy to me on how much snow they have gotten!

Here we are in Utah, “the greatest snow on earth” state, and I’m outside running!

Got to love our early spring.

Lazy M.F Monday: Shoe Lust

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend full of love! It is also Presidents day today so you may be lucky enough to have the day off!

Today for Lazy M.F Monday I want to chat about shoes! I love shoes and have been lusting after a few lately. I wish I could have these shoes in my closet. Id actually probably put them on their own shelf.

Utah has had such a weird winter.. or lack there of I guess.. but I’m catching myself skimming right over the boots and going straight toward the bright color heels and sensible flats.

The first pair are totally mom friendly and comfy! I tried these on last time I was at Nordstrom and I loved them!

Tom’s Jutti metallic flat.

These would be cute with jeans or a skirt.

Christian Louboutin Pigalle Follies Pointy Toe Pump.

The opaline color is gorgeous and I am in love with these shoes. I love the classic red sole that Louboutin shoes have.

Valentino Rockstud Patent Leather T-strap Ballerina Flat

valentino

I saw these shoes this week and love them! They are dressy but would go with most outfits. Too bad I mostly wear spandex..

But if I had an extra $975 dollars…

In the real mom/fitness instructor world.. I scored two pair of Mizuna Sayonaras for $80.

IMG_0741[1]

I love these shoes! They are light enough for cross training, but have enough support for running. I was at TJ maxx and found these and just couldn’t resist a good deal.

There are just a few shoes I love right now.

Weekend Recap

We had a fun weekend and enjoyed some great weather and spent some time out in the sun. We also went out for sushi and took the kids to a Mary Poppins play at our old high school. It was our theater teachers last play before she retires and it was nothing short of amazing.

IMG_0831[1]

Here is a fancy Sunday selfie for you.

IMG_0892[1]

I literally get ready on the weekends. Honestly, there is just too much sweat going on all throughout the week for me to get ready but I love every chance I get. Brent got that necklace for me and I love it paired with my monogram necklace.

We took the kids to the park Sunday before church and Tanner chose to run instead of being pushed in the stroller.

IMG_0898[1]

He may be my favorite.

My friend aka practically my sister went to her sweethearts dance and we stopped by to see her and lust over her amazing dress. She is beautiful! Yes?

IMG_0843[1]

How about one more picture to make you smile today.

Workout Wednesday

Holy Cow.

It has been almost a week since I last blogged!

We have had so much fun and honestly, I have been almost completely unplugged the last few days and it has been pretty nice. The weather has been amazing here in Utah and you can tell that the kids and I have taken complete advantage of it.

It is supposed to get cold again next week.. so to everyone local, GET OUT and enjoy it while it lasts!

I wanted to pop in quick today to throw a quick AT HOME workout for you.

30 minutes and done!

I hope you guys are having a great week. I have another early wake up call tomorrow for work so I have to get some shut eye. I’ll be sure to pop in to share some fun valentine ideas tomorrow.

xoxo

Thursday: Daily Happenings

Happy Thursday! We are almost to the weekend. I am so excited for this weekend because it is our anniversary! Hopefully we can actually get out to celebrate with dinner without our troop.

Today I had an EARLY start at the gym. We recently had to shuffle a few classes around and I’ve picked up a couple of classes that start at 5 am.

Later, Brent had lasik surgery, so we headed out to the doctor and we had some extra time before the surgery so we headed into TJmaxx and I found my favorite running shoe!

The wave sayonara! I am a mizuno fan through and through. So for $40 I bought two pair! The sayonara are light enough for cross training but also have enough support for running.

It was 65 degrees in Utah.

Tomorrow it’s supposed to get close to 70.

In February. I love it! I’m hoping I can get in a long-ish run tomorrow!

Brent and I also went to Harmons for lunch because I have heard great things about their salad bar.

It is amazing.. and sure does give whole foods a run for their money.

I made a salad and topped it with chicken and salmon, cucumbers, peppers, artichoke hearts, boiled egg, edamame, quinoa, onion and almond slices.

IMG_0460[1]

Amazing!

I taught boot camp tonight and came home and made a quick dinner, or should I say brinner?

IMG_0406[1]

Eggs are always are go to around here when I didn’t really take time to prepare much before heading to teach… #momfail ? Nobody disagrees though. We all love eggs and toast around here and I guess it is healthier than any fast food joint. Right?!

I’m going to get to bed extra early tonight because of my early morning I’m looking forward too tomorrow!

Workout Wednesday: All About The Legs

Oh hey!

It has been so busy around here, I haven’t been able to get to the blog till we get kids IN bed.

I do have a workout for you today targeting your legs. It is a 5 minute AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible.) With a run sandwiched between each round.

Be careful with the thrusters. If this is a new movement for you.. that many thrusters will bite.. HARD.

Adjust your weight as needed. I have indicated a weight I recommend for veterans.

legsfordays

Get after it.

I have an EARLY morning tomorrow so I’m peacing out early tonight… I have so much to catch you up on! Hopefully I’ll find time tomorrow!

Peace.

Simple Snack For A Busy Day

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and recovering from your super bowl shenanigans.

We went to a friends house and watched in their theater room which made Katy Perry just that much better. I loved the half time show but seriously I just have to mention how surprised I was to see Missy Elliot stroll out! HOLLER!!!  Talk about a flash back! Like, um.. where has she been the last 12 years?!!

I kept it pretty light food wise during the super bowl keeping pretty close to the veggie tray and shrimp, but had my fair share of kettle corn!  That stuff is addicting! So today I whipped up one of my old favorite snacks to reach for when I get a little ravenous.

I swear by 3 pm everyday I am tired and when I get tired I tend to mindlessly snack on whatever. Having these balls in my fridge ready to grab makes me feel better because it’s the perfect boost with a bit of staying power. I need in the afternoon!

pbcballs

Ingredients:

  • 1 package Raw pure & simple Oatmeal
  • 3 tbs Agave Nectar
  • 1/4 C. Bobs Red Mill Coconut shreds
  • 4 TBS. Chia Seeds
  • 1/3 C. All Natural Peanut Butter

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in one bowl.
  2. Form balls—> Refrigerate if not eating right away.
  3. Eat

This recipe is so simple and versatile. These balls are one of my go-to snacks for my kids. They love them and eat them by the handful.

These are perfect when you are tight on time and need a healthy snack. I separate them by 5 in plastic baggies and store them in my fridge, so when we are headed out the door I can easily snag a bag or two.

Give them a try and let me know how you like them.
